Application technique

For better thermal insulation, the profiles are deepened to accommodate thicker glass while minimizing visible surfaces. Glazing is done from the inside, and the gap is sealed with a rubber profile or silicone, which must be chosen to avoid reacting with the butyl sealant. Consult the manufacturer, as a chemical reaction can occur even if the silicone and edge sealant do not come into direct contact.

The outer layer of the glass structure extends in 1-2 , or even in all directions, to cover the window frame profile after installation. This is called skirted glass (overhang). The outer glass panes must be toughened (ESG)! In the case of triple-glazed structures, the outer glass pane has a soft coating, which must be removed from the overhanging area. After removal, an optical phenomena may remain on the glass surface, making the overhanging area appear non-uniformly black. There is a homogeneous edge painting solution, but it cannot be applied to soft-coated glass. In such cases, the soft-coated glass must be placed in the 3rd or 5th position. Regardless of the version used for the overhanging area, it must be made with UV-resistant edge sealing and gas-tight silicone.

In this case, the wood is protected and covered by aluminum from the exterior. The glazing is carried out from the exterior. The closing of the gap between the profile and the glass is provided by a rubber profile. Concerning the total thickness, the degree of tolerance can be more demanding. The primary sealant is made of polyurethane or polysulfide.

It is an aluminum structure, free of thermal bridging. The structural depth is increased in order to increase the thermal insulation ability of the glass and to allow the installation of thicker glasses. In this case, there is a great emphasis on minimizing the visible surfaces. The glazing is always carried out from the interior. The closing of the gap between the profile and the glass is provided by a rubber profile. The primary sealant is made of polyurethane or polysulfide.

A factory-processed, on-site assembled thermal bridge-free aluminum frame system, consisting of vertical and horizontal elements. The glazing is done from the exterior, with a rubber profile ensuring the seal between the profile and the glass pane. The glass panes are secured using pressure profiles, which are fastened to the aluminum frame with screws. Care must be taken during the screwing process, as incorrect fastening can damage the glass pane. The edge sealing is made of polyurethane or polysulfide material. The pressure profiles are covered by snap-on profiles, powder-coated in color, which protect the screws and provide a uniform appearance.

The visible mullion curtain wall system secures the glass to the frame using U-channels and hidden fasteners, without pressure or cover profiles. In triple-layer structures, the U-channels are placed in the inner air gap. Glazing is done from the exterior, with a rubber profile sealing the gap between the profile and the glass pane. The edge sealing of the glass is made of UV-resistant silicone, and the outer glass pane must always be toughened (ESG)! 4 mm glass and 3+3 safety glass should not be used; only thicker ones are acceptable. The gaps between the glass panes are filled on-site with compatible materials. The glass of operable elements in structural curtain walls has a skirted design on all four sides, and the outer glass panes are toughened. For triple-glazed units, the outer pane has a soft coating that must be removed from the overhanging area, though optical defects may remain. If homogeneous black edge painting is required, the soft-coated glass must be placed in the 3rd or 5th position. The insulating glass is made with UV-resistant edge sealing and silicone. The skirted glass is attached to the aluminum structure with structural adhesive silicone in the factory, adhering to the required technological curing times.

This is the combination of the visible and the structural glass walls. According to individual choices, either the vertical or the horizontal direction is visible, the other is structural. It depends on the width-height ratio whether the fixation with a U channel on the structural edge is needed. The sealant has to be UV-resistant with gas-tight silicone sealant.

A self-explanatory solution for such structures is to drill through the glass panes. In this case, spacer rings can be used to ensure the proper sealing of the holes. The sealant has to be UV-resistant with a gas tight silicone sealant. Soft-coated glasses cannot be drilled because of the drilling technology. Consequently, the Ug value of a double layer insulating glass unit with holes is worse than 1,1. The latest developments are in the area of special surface adhesion technologies, eg. Fischer and Dow Corning innovations.
